TALLY-HO! - These two goofballs are destined for adventure. I've always been a fan of mythology. The idea of a faun and centaur duo who attend college, play video games, and fail Physics just like the rest of us, sounded so fun. This is Gene and J.R. They have to save reality AND imagination by tomorrow.
They are made of: Sculpey and other polymer clays, felting wool, paper craft, wire, yarn, acrylic paint, nail polish, beads and probably some spit.
A FAUN'S LIFE - It is said that fauns are related to Mercury and as such, their duty is to act as messengers. However, they're moreso related to Pan and being related to Pan means partying.
Hence, Gene carries in his basket, a strawberry daquiri and some postcards. Party on, Gene!
This shadowbox diorama is made with: Sculpey and other polymer clays, felting wool, paper craft, florist's moss, yarn, wire, acrylic paint, ink, clear coat nail polish, miniature lighting, love.
Et Tu Bruté? - I was incredibly excited to use cocktail swords to stab Julius Ceasar in the back, but the fun of the project got the better of me and I completely forgot! Thus, I became a miniature smithy.
Made from: Sculpey, paper clay, cake toppers, costume jewelry, hobby paint, card stock, miniature electric lighting, bamboo cloth, sheer fabric, beads, acrylic paint
Scar and the Wolf - This was a commission for a children’s book. Instead of illustrations, the author wanted dioramas made similarly to the eye spy books. I had an amazing time making this test diorama.
Scar’s forest is made from: Sculpey, wood, florist’s wire, florist’s fauna, sand, moss, fabric, acrylic paint, feathers, foam.
A Rabbit’s Life In the Hat - This was a college stop motion project showing just what a white rabbit does inside a magician’s hat while it’s waiting to be part of a magic trick.
Spring! - This diorama goes hand in hand with Et Tu Bruté. I would like to continue my series of tiny theatrical productions to eventually have a collection.
Spring is made from: Wedding invitation collage, sculpey, felting wool, paper, lace, acrylic paint, beads, plastic toys, shells, miniature lighting.
Frog President - This sculpture was made for the frame, which reminded me so much of Wind in the Willows. I have an affinity for powdered wigs and handmade glass eyes and wanted to make both. I also wanted to see if I still had my watercoloring mojo.
His Excellency is made from: Tea stained fabric, sheer fabric, felting wool, cobochon glass, watercolor, awesome picture frame, paper glay, acrylic paint.
Merv - I learn by doing and Merv was a deep exploration into building an armature, working with foam, creating glass eyes, and experimenting with pouring medium.
Merv is made from: Sculpey, faux fingernails, wood, wire, glue, tweed, stretchy fabric, silicone, acrylic paint, nail polish, pouring medium, moss, plastic toys.
Unfortunately, Creepy Cloud didn’t make it, but he was made with doll eyes, styrofoam, polyfil, a plaster casted mouth, acrylic paint, nail polish, and miniature lighting.
Phew! I know that was a lot. Please take a load off at the mini sushi bar.
